PARTNER VISA MIGRATION WEDDINGS

Partner Visa & Prospective Marriage Visa Weddings

If you are planning to marry your overseas partner in Australia, our experienced team can assist with the marriage documentation required as part of a Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) or other partner visa pathways.

For many couples, including same-sex and LGBTQIA+ couples, one of the first steps is lodging a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with an authorised Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrant. Once your NOIM has been lodged, we can provide a formal Letter of Support confirming your intention to marry in Australia and the details of your proposed wedding ceremony.

The Victorian Private Marriage Registry, Pride Registry Weddings and the Victorian Marriage Hub have assisted Australian and international couples with registry-style weddings, elopements and visa-related marriages for more than 16 years.

How the Process Works

The Australian-based partner can arrange an appointment with one of our authorised celebrants to lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and provide the required supporting documentation.

To complete the NOIM lodgement, you will generally need:

• Proof of identity and date of birth (passport or birth certificate)

• Evidence of how any previous marriage ended, if applicable

• Basic identification documentation relating to your overseas partner

Once the NOIM has been lodged, we can issue a Letter of Support confirming the proposed marriage arrangements and the lodgement of the NOIM.

Couples may then choose a wedding date any time from one month after NOIM lodgement and up to 18 months from the lodgement date, subject to availability.

Important Information

While we can assist with marriage documentation, NOIM lodgements, Letters of Support and wedding arrangements, we are unable to provide migration or immigration advice. Advice regarding visas, sponsorship requirements or immigration matters should always be obtained from a registered migration agent or qualified immigration lawyer.
